Happy Birthday, Miss America! The fourth of July is always a wonderful time of year to celebrate with family and friends. My favorite thing about this time of year is that the is usually pretty warm outside, so that means cooling off with some ice cream! There is no better treat on a hot summers' day than something frozen and refreshing! The same can be said for your furry friend! Share with them the joy of ice cream made especially for dogs!
Our recommendation for a fourth of July treat, is one scoop of Blueberry Smart Scoops, one scoop of Vanilla Puppy Scoops and one Scoops of Banana Hoggin’ Dogs ice cream for dogs! The color combination of these ice cream is perfect for the red, white, and blue day! It is supper simple to make ice cream for your dog. All you need is water and a freezer! Once you have let your ice cream thaw or at least 5 min serve this deliciously creamy ice cream in a bowl or in a cone. Make sure if you decide on a cone that you look at the ingredients and avoid products that contain avoid ingestion of xylitol, a sugar substitute that is toxic to dogs.
Another staple for any type of celebration or birthday is a cake and the 4th is the day we show our patriotic pride for our beautiful America, so why wouldn’t there be cake. As you probably already know, Puppy Cake cake mixes are super fluffy, moist, and completely made from all-natural ingredients that are safe for your pup to consume. On America’s birthday, the two cake mixes for dogs we recommend for a red, white and blue three-tiered cake is banana and red velvet. Start by filling two 8” round pan with our red velvet cake mix for dogs and fill one 8” round with our banana cake mix for dogs. All you need to make these delicious cakes is one egg, ¼ cup of vegetable oil, and ¾ cup of water! Once they are out of the oven let the pans cool. Once cooled, take them out of the pan and you can begin laying your cakes. Each cake mix comes with icing but if you need more to ice the whole cake all you need to make dog-safe icing is ½ cup plain Greek yogurt, ½ cup tapioca starch, 2 – 3 teaspoons low fat or 2% milk or goats milk. If you want to dye your icing red or blue instead of food coloring use beet powder to make red icing and crushed blueberries to make blue icing! Make sure to apply a generous amount of icing between each layer to provide stability to your cake. Then you can either ice the outside or leave it un-iced its up to your preference. Once decorated you have a beautiful, festive, and healthy cake for your dog! Make this 4th of July one your furry friend will never forget!
