It’s that time of year again where Pumpkin Spice something is everywhere! I mean, I’m not complaining and frankly, I don’t care that it’s only September ?? Fall is my favorite season. Even my 7-year-old Bernese Mountain Dog, Palmer loves the cooler temps too!
As you can tell by the title above, we’ll be making a Pumpkin Spice Cookie Cake today. Of course, I wanted to incorporate Pumpkin into my recipe today. Dogs loooove pumpkin and since it’s September already, I wanted to make new and fun recipes for your dog during the whole month of September that includes our Pumpkin Spice Cake Mix for Dogs. And what a fun idea to include our “sugar” cookie mix too?
So, let’s get started. You’ll need:
1 Box of Pumpkin Spice Cake Mix for Dogs
1 Bag of Holiday Cookie Mix for Dogs
1 – 8” Round Baking Pan (Which ever size you have available is fine.)
½ cup to 1 cup of peanut butter
First, preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Make the Holiday Cookie Mix! Follow the directions on the back of the cookie mix bag by adding 1 egg, 1 TBSP of oil and ¼ cup of hot water in a large bowl. Stir well until the dough forms. Spray an 8” round pan with non-stick cookie spray and press the cookie dough into the round pan until the dough is evenly in the pan.
Place the pan into the oven for about 6 minutes or until the cookie is light golden brown. After the cookie pan is done, remove the pan from the oven and let cool completely.
While the cookie pan is cooling, begin to make the Pumpkin Spice cake mix for dogs! In another large bowl, stir well together 1 egg, ¾ cup of water and ¼ cup of oil. Mix well until all lumps are removed from the batter.
Turn oven back on to 350 degrees. Pour your pumpkin spice batter into another round baking pan and spray well with non-stick cooking spray. Pour the batter into the baking pan, making sure all lumps and bubbles are removed from the pan. Place in the oven for about 15-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the middle of the cake comes out clean.
Once the cake is finished baking, remove the cake pan to completely cool!
Remove the cookie from the pan and place on a plate. Empty the contents of the icing packet into a bowl and add 2 TBSP of water, stirring well! Add ½ cup (or 1 cup, depending on the size of your cookie) of peanut butter to the icing and stir well. Ice the entire top of the cookie. (Do not use all of the icing, as you will need to use icing for the top of the cake too!) Then place the pumpkin spice cake directly on top of the peanut butter icing. Ice the top of pumpkin spice cake!
Finally, serve a slice of Pumpkin Spice Cookie Cake to your pup and watch them savor every bit. Enjoy!
